Checklist for Parents of High School Juniors

  • Be sure your son or daughter is taking the required college preparatory math classes.
  • Be sure your son or daughter completes the Roadmap on this website.
  • Encourage your son or daughter to participate in EAP.
  • Encourage your son or daughter to take the SAT or ACT national college placement tests.

Checklist for Parents of High School Seniors – Fall Semester

  • Encourage your son or daughter to enroll in a senior year math course.
  • If your son's or daughter's EAP status is "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses - Conditional", be sure that he/she reviews all possible ways to complete the ELM requirement for "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses - Conditional" students.
  • Check to see if your son's or daughter's SAT or ACT scores are high enough to meet the ELM Requirement.
  • Encourage your son or daughter to update his/her Roadmap on this website in order to stay on track for a smooth transition to college.

Checklist for Parents of High School Seniors – Spring Semester

  • In February, if your son or daughter does not have a "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses" EAP status in math or does not meet the ELM Requirement by scoring high enough on a national standardized test, be sure that he/she begins to study for the ELM Exam using the online ELM Exam Preparation tools.
  • If your son or daughter does not have a "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses" EAP status in math, be sure that he/she registers for ELM Exam popup window icon in accordance with the instructions delivered by the campus of admission.
  • If your son or daughter has not fulfilled the Entry Level Math Requirement, he/she will need to participate in an Early Start Program during the summer before arriving at a CSU. Find out more about this program and encourage your student to take this course seriously.
  • Encourage your son or daughter to update his/her Roadmap on this website in order to stay on track for a smooth transition to college.
